You must complete all of the forms below according to the semester for which the exemption is requested, and meet the deadlines specified for each semester.

Note: Due to personal information privacy laws, any student whose application for the tuition exemption grant has been approved will be notified individually by email. Any student who has not received an email from the High Commission should assume that their application was not approved.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The scholarship waiving additional tuition fees, established under the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cameroon and the Government of Quebec, allows Cameroonian students enrolled in a university-level program in Quebec to benefit from the tuition fee structure applicable to Quebec students.

  • Which government offers the exemption grant? The Government of Quebec.
  • What is the application schedule? Fall quarter: Application deadline: March 25; Winter and summer quarters: Application deadline: October 28;
  • Can you qualify for this outside of Canada? No, you must be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in Quebec;
  • Are doctoral students eligible for this program? Currently, only undergraduate and master’s degree programs are eligible.
  • I am enrolled part-time. Am I eligible for a tuition waiver? No, you must be a full-time student to receive and maintain a tuition waiver.
  • How many tuition waiver scholarships are available each quarter? Under the current agreement, eight scholarships are awarded for each of the relevant academic programs; however, waivers are granted as they become available again (upon completion of the recipient student’s program of study)
  • What documents are required for the scholarship application? An application form, which can be downloaded from the High Commission’s website; A curriculum studiorum, which can also be downloaded; Appendix No. II, a form available on the website of the Quebec Ministry of Education and Higher Education; A consular card; A residence permit (study permit); A certificate of enrollment; A transcript from the previous academic year or a cumulative transcript.
  • How long does a tuition waiver last? 3 to 4 years for a bachelor’s degree program and 2 years for a master’s degree program.
  • Can I receive a tuition waiver more than once? No, unless I advance to a higher level of study (Master’s degree)
  • Is there a fee for this procedure? No, it's free.
  • How do I know if my application has been accepted? Selected students are notified individually by email from the Office of the High Commissioner.
  • What are the preferred fields of study? -Agriculture, agribusiness; -Rural and urban development (health infrastructure, urban planning); -Energy, renewable energy; -Public administration, management, economics, finance; -Environmental sciences (water management, natural disaster management); -Health and social services management; -Public safety and criminology; -Transportation, maritime economics; -Education (instruction, assessment, administration, and special education); -Literature, Quebec studies, and French language pedagogy; -Engineering, science, and technology; -Social and political sciences.
  • How should I submit my application? By mail or email (cultural-service@hc-cameroon.ca);
  • Selection Procedure and Criteria. After the High Commission receives the applications, the complete applications are forwarded to the Ministry of Higher Education of Cameroon for selection; the following criteria are taken into consideration: -academic performance; -field of study; -gender balance (as much as possible); -regional balance. The Cameroonian government’s selection list is forwarded to the Quebec Ministry of Education and Higher Education for final selection. Only the selected students are notified of their selection by the High Commission.
